About Life's Spice
Life Spices Processing Cooperative Society Ltd. works to improve the livelihoods and economic conditions of its members and local communities through sustainable spice cultivation, processing, and marketing. The Society also promotes a women-led initiative supporting Lakadong turmeric farmers and growers, empowering women to actively participate in cultivation, processing, value addition, and marketing while creating better livelihood opportunities for farming communities.
Objective
Life Spice aims to improve the livelihood and economic conditions of its members and local communities by promoting spice cultivation, processing, marketing, employment, and other allied agricultural activities.
The society also encourages self-help and cooperation among its members.
Registration
Life Spices Processing Cooperative Society Ltd., tagged as “Jackie’s Spices of Life” (Jaintia A’Chik, Khasi Innovative Enterprise), was originally registered on 20 August 2010 under the Meghalaya Cooperative Societies Act.
Its Bye-Laws were completely amended and registered on 9 September 2021.
Area of Operation
The society operates in the following areas of West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya:
- Laskein
- Mowkaiaw
- Mowkyndeng
- Mowtyrshiah
Membership
Membership is open to individuals aged 18 years and above from within the society's area of operation, subject to the conditions of the Bye-Laws.
Members participate in the cooperative and contribute to its activities and development.
Finance of the Society
The society's funds come from:
- Share Capital
- Admission fees and other receipts
- Profits from society activities
- Government grants and subsidies
- Loans from Government and cooperative/financial institutions
- Other approved sources of borrowing
